Terms of Service
Effective date: 1 January 2026. Please read these terms before using Impostor.
Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using Impostor ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms at any time — continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
Description of the Service
Impostor is a free, browser-based multiplayer social-deduction party game. Players join rooms, receive secret words or the Impostor role, participate in a discussion phase, and vote to eliminate who they believe is the Impostor. The Service is provided free of charge and requires no registration.
User conduct
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not use offensive, hateful, or abusive display names, submit words or phrases that are obscene, threatening, or harassing during gameplay, attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the Service's servers, use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service, or impersonate another person or entity.
Intellectual property
All content, design, and code on this site are the property of Impostor and its creators. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the Service without prior written permission. The game concept of social deduction is not proprietary — our specific implementation, branding, and assets are.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not responsible for any loss of data, game progress, or other damages resulting from the use or inability to use the Service.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Impostor and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Third-party advertising
The Service may display advertisements served by third parties such as Google AdSense. These advertisers operate under their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Because there are no user accounts, termination is applied at the room or session level.
Governing law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
